OUR MISSION

What we do

The Rangitīkei Environment Group is a non-profit community group in the Rangitīkei District of the lower North Island of New Zealand working to protect the biodiversity of the Rangitīkei.

We work in collaboration with local councils and community groups such as Rangitīkei Rivers Catchment Collective, Hautapu Sub-Catchment Group, Horizons Regional Council, Forest & Bird, Department of Conservation, Rangitīkei District Council and Friends of Taihape on environmental restoration projects associated with improving environmental outcomes within the Rangitīkei District.

PEST CONTROL

Old Man’s Beard

OMB is the worst threat to our native flora & fauna. This invasive plant is extremely persistent and requires a community effort to control it in our district.
EROSION CONTROL

Riparian Planting

Planting next to streams and riverbanks helps decrease erosion and improve water quality and the health of plants, fish and animals in the area.
